Our History

In 2001, Pastor Latima Bupe started the school initially in the open air in Kawama Compound on the outskirts of Ndola, Zambia. His plan was to create a purpose-built school and he and a small team made 11,500 bricks by hand, but could go no further until funds were available.

In the summer of 2003, Jan Moir of the Parish of Oakley, Okewood and Forest Green visited. Pastor Latima Bupe explained to Jan the vision which he believed had been given to him by God to help the poor in Kawama Compound.

There were many orphaned and vulnerable children in the area as a result of malaria and AIDS who could not afford to attend the government schools so he had given up his job as a teacher in a local government school to start a school for these children.  On her return, Jan told the Parish Churches of the need and many members felt moved to make donations towards the rest of the building materials. The school buildings were completed in 2003. He tragically died in 2008 and the school is now being run by Kaimba Mwitwa the Director of Education and a dedicated group of teachers.
